He then moved to Chicago to pastor a Baptist church there and came under the sway of the newly emerged Pentecostal movement there [William Durham; Stone Church; etc.]. He was baptized in the Holy Spirit and began preaching the Pentecostal doctrine in 1915. Always an independent person and placing great emphasis on the interior,
