The carte de visite is executed by Matthew Brady, premier photographer of the Civil War era whose photographs fetch vast sums at auction [depending of course upon sitter, etc.]. Additionally, the sitter [or rather, stander] in this case is Adoniram Brown Judson [b. 1837], son of the famed missionary, Adoniram Judson. Here just 24 years old this photo taken in his military uniform.
